John Redmond

John Redmond (February 25, – August 26, ) was an American songwriter.

John redmond mgm Help your children learn their faith with these delightful songs from the s! From the Ten Commandments to the Works of Mercy, these songs cover much of the Catechism and they do it in a way that is memorable as well as enjoyable. Our children listened to these songs regularly when they were little and it always delighted me to hear them humming or singing them to themselves. As they've gotten older, they have been thankful to find that they can remember their Works of Mercy in a snap! The musical quality is such that you won't mind listening to them over and over—something that cannot always be said for children's music.

He was born John Redmond Lynskey and grew up in Clinton, Massachusetts. Among his better known songs was "Christmas in Killarney" (ed ), co-written with James Cavanaugh and Frank Weldon.

In , Redmond spearheaded the organization of the Religious Music Guild, along with Father Timothy Flynn, then director of radio and television for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York.

He subsequently devoted most of his remaining career as a songwriter to creating music for Catholic children. His Religious Music Guild produced two albums of these songs: Seven Songs on the Seven Sacraments and Twelve Songs on the Apostles' Creed. For Christmas the St. Augustine Academy Press came out with the first ever compilation of the sheet music for the Religious Music Guild songs.

They also issued a remastered CD from the original vinyl, including a few Religious Music Guild songs originally on 45 r.p.m. records not included on the original LPs.

Redmond, John.

Composer john redmond biography Since age 5, John Redmon has had a deep love and appreciation for music. His mother, Cynthia Redmon, an accomplished pianist, took him under her wing and taught him the musical art, encouraging him to play alongside of her in various church services. By age 12, he was not only being encouraged by his mother and other piano instructors to play both by ear and sight, but also to compose original works. By Redmon decided to not just compose but house his original works within his own independent record label and named the company Reaching Records. In he started The Piano Series under his label and not only recorded his Christmas Classics , Gospel Classics and Hymn Classics albums, but set up a tour to promote the records.
